However, the minister’s office said some channels were allegedly using these platforms to circulate misleading information about the examinations. Some videos and posts reportedly claim that they will provide the Onam exam question paper, that only the questions mentioned by them will appear in the exam, or that a particular paper is the model question paper for the following day. Students are also being told that they only need to study the questions being promoted by these channels, the statement said.WHY HAS THE MINISTER'S OFFICE RAISED CONCERNS?According to the statement, such claims can create false expectations among students and lead to misconceptions about the examinations. The minister’s office also said these claims could encourage students to depend on questions allegedly available just before the examination instead of preparing properly. The school term examinations held before the Onam holidays are known as the Onam examinations. With these exams already underway, the office said the issue has assumed greater significance.CONCERN OVER STUDENT DATAThe complaint also raised concerns that some channels could be using claims about question papers to attract students to their platforms and groups and collect different types of student information and data. The police have been asked to verify the claims and take legal action if they are found to be false. They have also been asked to investigate whether such methods are being misused to collect students’ personal information.MINISTER'S OFFICE ISSUES WARNINGThe minister’s office has warned students, parents and teachers against falling for such claims and said strict action would be taken against those making false statements about examination question papers. However, the office clarified that the complaint is not intended to restrict regular academic classes conducted by teachers on social media platforms.(With PTI inputs)- EndsPublished By: Karan YadavPublished On: Aug 17, 2026 12:45 IST
