Kenny Dillingham was asked about the Florida State head coaching vacancy despite Arizona State preparing for Colorado this weekend. That’s where his focus is, rather than any other job openings, according to what he said Monday at his presser. Dillingham previouslty served as the Florida State from 2020-21. “I’m trying to find a way to beat Colorado,” Dillingham said Monday. Not only that, Dillingham said “probably not” when it came to former FSU coach Mike Norvell joining his staff in any capacity for the rest of the season. The Sun Devils dropped to 4-4 on the season with a 27-20 loss to BYU over the weekend. Dillingham and ASU are just two years removed from winning the Big 12 and making the College Football Playoff. $19.99 gets you a FULL year of On3 | Rivals national coverage Kenny Dillingham when asked about the Florida State opening:"(Laughing) We've done this before… I am 100% of the mindset of let's go play our best game vs Colorado."He's said "probably not" about Mike Norvell, one of his close mentors, coming to ASU. pic.twitter.com/Fb3fyrAcMV— Jakob Brooks (@Jakobrooks) November 2, 2026 Florida State Norvell over the weekend following their latest loss to Clemson. In addition, DC Tony White was let go, so a new era in Tallahassee will be ushered in as soon as possible. Althought the search has only just begun. “We have made the decision to change the leadership of our football program,” President Rich McCullough said in a statement “We thank Mike Norvell for his commitment and service to Florida State and wish him and his family the very best. We understand the deep passion of Seminole fans and share their high expectations for this program. “We are confident in Rick Stockstill’s ability to provide steady leadership during this transition. We will conduct a thorough national search for the program’s next leader, someone who embraces Florida State’s tradition of championship athletics and our standard of excellence.” To this point, Dillingham is 26-21 as Arizona State’s head coach since 2023, including the 11-3 campaign previously mentioned back in 2024. Dillingham arrived at Arizona State, his alma mater, after spending a year as the Oregon OC. Despite coming up short on Saturday, the Sun Devils put up a fight against BYU, holding the Cougars to just 47 yards rushing, forcing two turnovers and frustrating them for the majority of the contest, leading to a game that came down to the wire. “You can tell we’re not going to quit as an organization, as a program,” Dillingham said. “You can tell our guys had energy, our guys played with passion tonight. They played hard. They played physical. They played the way that I want us to play. They’re playing ASU football again … I think we just have to continue to build on that these last four weeks of the season, one game at a time. You know, we found that piece of it, but it wasn’t enough to get it done tonight.”
