Kellogg’s axes ‘all-time favourite’ breakfast cereal after 35 years as shoppers beg for its return

KELLOGG’S has axed a popular breakfast cereal loved by shoppers – and fans are begging for it to return. The cereal manufacturer, known for its signature Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies and Coco Pops, confirmed that one of its creations has been axed for good. The simple high-fibre cereal consists of bite-sized shredded wheat pieces with raisin inside and they’ve been a cupboard staple for many since the 1980s. Sign up for the Money newsletter Thank you! But much to the devastation of loyal Raisin Wheats eaters, Kellogg’s has confirmed that they have been discontinued. Kellogg’s told The Sun: “We’re always evolving our cereal range to meet changing consumer tastes, and sometimes that means making the decision to discontinue specific products. “Raisin Wheats were phased out earlier this year and are no longer part of our range.” Fans of the healthy breakfast option have shared their sadness over the loss online. One wrote on the Tesco website: “Please bring this back. One of my all time favourites!” “I just discovered that Mars/Kelloggs have discontinued Raisin Wheats, a loss for cereal kind,” another wrote on social media. Most read in Money Others have pointed out that the Nestle Shredded Wheat Raisin Wheats are a similar alternative, but they don’t seem to be cutting it for die-hard lovers of the Kellogg’s version. Describing the Nestle buy as “very bland”, a Raisin Wheats fan wrote on Facebook: “The Nestle ones aren’t to my liking compared to the Kellogg’s ones.” The disappearance of Raisin Wheats comes after Kellogg’s axed its popular Frosted Wheats earlier this year, in what was another mournful day for shoppers. It seems that Kellogg’s has no plans to bring Raisin Wheats back to supermarkets any time soon. The spokesperson for the brand continued: “We continue to offer a selection of other high-fibre cereals, including Special K Crunchy Golden Clusters and Bran Flakes, to suit different tastes and breakfasts.” Comment now
