Keira Knightley and Joe Wilkinson make our dreams come true reuniting for Waitrose’s 2026 Christmas advert | Deputy TV editor Published November 6, 2026 10:25am Updated November 6, 2026 10:25am To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video In the words of Noddy Holder, ‘It’s Chrrrrriiiisstmaaaaassss… advert season!’ Oh wait, Noddy never said that last bit about adverts, did he? Ahh well. Anyway, it is Christmas TV advert season, that wonderful time of year when brands embrace the capitalist spirit of the Yule Tide. We’ve already had John Lewis’s much maligned effort, as well as an Asda advert, and Aldi has got Colin the Carrot out of the loft for another bout of festive fun. Now, though, it’s Waitrose’s turn to get in on the action, and they’ve also brought back a star from Christmas past. Keira Knightley, who you may remember from such films as Pirates of the Caribbean and Love Actually, has returned after playing Joe Wilkinson’s unlikely love interest in last year’s advert. Can these crazy kids make it work? (Picture: Waitrose) To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Connoisseurs of Christmas ads will, of course, remember Waitrose’s 2025 commercial, The Perfect Gift, which saw Joe and Keira fall in love after a meet-cute on the cheese aisle. So what happens in this new chapter? Well, it hasn’t been released yet, so we don’t know all the details, but the bougie supermarket has revealed some tantalising info. It’s called The Perfect Gift 2,and is a sequel to the 2025 Christmas advert, which reunites Keira and Joe for ‘a new chapter in their unlikely love story’. Fans fell in love with Keira and Joe’s love story last year (Picture: Waitrose/PA Wire) ‘Keira Knightley reprises her most personal role to date, playing herself, alongside Joe Wilkinson as Phil ‘Phil Phil’, the lovelorn everyman who won her heart last Christmas,’ the press release reads. ‘This year, Keira swaps the wedding aisle for the man she met in the Waitrose aisle. But will their festive love story have a happy ending?’ We can only pray. Waitrose has also released a short teaser for their Christmas commercial featuring Keira running through a Waitrose store in dramatic fashion while wearing a wedding dress. The pair met at a cheese counter (Picture: Waitrose/PA Wire) Anyway, if this type of thing interests you, you can watch the advert onWaitrose social channels, including YouTube, from 6.30am on November 10. I’ll bring the popcorn! And I won’t be the only one excitedly tuning into a supermarket YouTube channel. And the rest is Christmas history (Picture: Waitrose/PA Wire) Ambercostamoore commented on the Instagram teaser: ‘OMG CAN’T WAIT! Her dress😍😍stunning’ Alice Hamer added: ‘Ahhhhh so exciting!!!’ while Kate Keogh simply wrote: ‘Goosebumps’. Sadly, we’re all gonna have to wait until next week to see if those crazy kids Joe and Keira can make things work, but in the meantime, why not check out some other adverts?
