Since beginning his writing career, he has written for many different publications such as WorldStart, Listverse, and MakeTechEasier. Community fixed regressions like wrong notification placement and cloned panel screen bugs. 6.8.2 fixed Discover crashes and Flatpak remote desktop crashes; some fixes move to 6.9. So, how's everyone liking KDE Plasma 6.8? It was released on October 14th, which means people who aren't on LTS branches have likely gotten it already. Unfortunately, as is always the case, some bugs managed to sneak in, because nothing stress-tests a desktop environment like shipping it out to daily drivers across the world. Fortunately, the KDE community has been hard at work squashing every bug they see, and we've got a fresh batch of fixes. So, if something has been bugging you with the new build, it's worth taking a look to see if it got fixed in a recent update. KDE Plasma saw a ton of bug fixes this week as the team settles down after 6.8 As covered in KDE's official This Week in Plasma blog, the community has been tackling all the regressions that happened with 6.8. Regressions happen when features that used to work fine break after an update, so it's important to fix them before anything else happens. Reported regressions included notifications popping up at the top-left when you didn't ask them to appear there, an annoying bug where cloned panels would forget which screen they were set on, and a bug that caused Plasma to fall over if you had over a total of 16 screens, virtual desktops, and/or activities, then opened the launcher widget with a keyboard shortcut. Once the regressions were sorted, the KDE community could start fixing more long-standing bugs. Plasma 6.8.2 fixed three different ways Discover could crash while updating your system with it, and also fixed a bug that would cause a remote desktop session to crash if you launched it from within a Flatpak. Some issues were moved to 6.9's release, such as hitting a "Full Screen" button on a website in the Web Browser widget actually going into full-screen mode, which definitely sounds useful. As such, if 6.8 broke some of your favorite features, now would be a good time to give your desktop environment an update and see if your problem got fixed.
