KDE Plasma 6.8 Seeing More Polishing & Fixes, Plasma 6.9 Begins Seeing More Activity

Following last week's Plasma 6.8 beta release, KDE desktop developers have spent this week mostly working on bug fixes as well as some early changes toward Plasma 6.9. Plasma 6.8 beta appears to be doing fairly well in testing with the regression list currently at just five bugs. Those bugs pertain to the logout screen losing focus, misaligned notifications, misaligned logout/restart/shutdown overlay in multi-monitor setups, and "Switch User" behavior. As for some of this week's KDE Plasma changes: With Plasma 6.8 is the new Kup backup solution and as of this week it will now show the elapsed time and the average speed information is more accurate. The KDE desktop portal dialogs have also been more polished for Plasma 6.8. Plasma 6.8 will also no longer write to a cache file every time it displays a notification. For Plasma 6.7.6 is a bug fix where KWin could occasionally crash when returning to a game using Alt + Tab. For Plasma 6.8 is a KWin crash fix when interacting with titlebar buttons in very specific ways. Meanwhile for Plasma 6.9, when renaming a file or folder on the desktop now all the standard warnings and confirmations will be shown when necessary.
