Former White House press secretary Katie Zacharia has been reflecting on one of her “favorite” moments with President Donald Trump, whittling down the memories from her fleeting, five-days in the role. Zacharia, Karoline Leavitt’s replacement, was unceremoniously ditched by Trump two weeks ago after holding one and only press briefing, where she answered three questions from reporters and struggled to read from a sheet of notes. Despite being fired by the president, Zacharia was nostalgic for her short time with him. “Thank you, @dougmillsnyt, for capturing one of my favorite moments with the best president in history,” she posted on X Monday night. She tagged New York Times photographer Doug Mills, who took the picture of Zacharia in Marine One with Trump and his special assistant, Natalie Harp. The two women were pictured beaming at Trump en route to a midterms campaign event in Alaska. It emerged that she had never passed the bar exam, even though she previously identified herself as a lawyer. She tried to mount a defense on Fox News with Sean Hannity but it wasn’t the friendly chat she might have been expecting. Another awkward appearance on Fox and Friends the following morning ultimately caused Trump to call time on her after barely a week.Despite being fired, Zacharia said she remains ‘ruthlessly loyal’ to Trump and has been posting favorably about him on social media (Reuters)Since her dismissal - which she found out about in the middle of a sit-down interview with the Wall Street Journal - Zacharia has pledged her allegiance to Trump, writing on social media that she remains “ruthlessly loyal” to him. The Californian penned an op-ed for the New York Post where she didn’t directly address her firing but said she was “doing well” and would “never stop fighting for President Trump and the America First agenda in whatever capacity I’m given.” Last week, Trump told a rally crowd that Zacharia “freaked out” under the pressure of facing reporters in the James S. Brady Briefing Room at the White House. “No wonder that poor young woman - she was a perfect, beautiful woman - when she walked into that press room and they started screaming at her, she freaked out,” Trump said in Florida.Still, Zacharia has entered the history books. Her tenure has earned her the record for the shortest-serving White House press secretary in American history.
