Katherine Ryan reveals what she said to Victoria Beckham when she contacted her about 'stupid joke' after BBC upheld complaints over the slur

Katherine Ryan has revealed what she said to Victoria Beckham when she contacted her about her 'stupid joke' on Have I Got News For You. The BBC upheld complaints about the comedian, 43, linking an obscene term to the fashion designer on the quiz show in November 2025. Katherine has now revealed that Victoria reached out to her directly to say 'she was offended' and she apologised but never heard back from the Spice Girl. Speaking to Heat magazine, she said: 'If Victoria had seen the broadcast she would have known it was tongue-in-cheek. I never actually used the c-word, I was being cheeky while trying to wrap up a segment. 'But Victoria reached out to me as soon as it happened and said she was offended. I unreservedly apologised and said "I love you and I'm really sorry. This is just how I am and I certainly didn't mean to hurt any feelings". 'That's the last I heard from her and I haven't reached out to Victoria since. I think you should say sorry once, and leave it at that. Maybe we can patch things up one day.' Katherine Ryan has revealed what she said to Victoria Beckham when she contacted her about her 'stupid joke' on Have I Got News For You The BBC upheld complaints about the comedian, 43, linking an obscene term to the fashion designer on the quiz show in November 2025On the programme, which was hosted by Katherine, the segment discussed David Beckham allegedly using the word in an email to his publicist where he expressed outrage at missing out on a knighthood in 2013 (he has since been knighted). He apparently referred to the honours committee as 'a bunch of cs'.The BBC's Executive Complaints Unit (ECU) ruled that panellist Maisie Adam's use of the word 'c' was justified as it referred to Sir David's own alleged use of the term. However, the ECU ruling concluded that there was no editorial justification for Katherine's subsequent joke about his wife.Katherine said in the recording: 'I don't know that we are allowed to broadcast the c-word, but you did reference Victoria Beckham earlier and we'll allow that.'In its ruling, the ECU said: 'There was no such justification for a comment which presented Victoria Beckham as equivalent to a particularly offensive word.'An internal investigation into the episode of the satirical show in November 2025 came after two viewers said the remark was 'gratuitously offensive'.Katherine later posted a video to her social media in response, blaming the incident on her being the mother of a newborn. She said: 'At that time, though there is no defence, I was suffering from a condition called matrescence. I was in that building with a ten-day-old baby. Should I have left the house?'This is gonna be a tough one for the feminists because I was a woman going to work but I did call another woman a c. Sometimes I forget that celebrities are not my friends. If I had called Jimmy Carr a c, he wouldn't have minded.'But this was described by the BBC as a slur, as though c are part of a protected group.'If you watched it on the day, it was clearly a joke and the whole audience went [gasp] and then I said, "Woah, I love her".' Katherine said: 'Victoria reached out to me as soon as it happened and said she was offended. I unreservedly apologised and said "I love you and I'm really sorry. This is just how I am'It comes after Katherine said she is considering undergoing 'the deadliest cosmetic surgery you can get' after already spending £25,000 on a facelift. The comedian has been open about her cosmetic surgery over the years including having a full facelift last year, having botox and two breast augmentations. Now Katherine said she is looking at having a fat transfer, which is a three-step cosmetic procedure that removes fat from one part of the body and injects it into another. The risks of the procedure are exceptionally high in Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL) due to the large, deep veins in the gluteal muscle and it has the highest death rate of all cosmetic procedures.Speaking on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, Katherine said: 'I'm not sure what I'm doing [with my arse yet] but it will be something.'So you know the popular procedure where they try to find fat in your body through like a cannula and lipo suction and they harvest that and they put it somewhere else.'I think people went a little wild with that and they all looked like they had, I don't know unnatural proportions.'So I might do that, but only mildly because it is the deadliest surgery you can get.'She added: 'So, I might not do it because I might die, but worth it if I don't.'Katherine explained that she is only 'high maintenance' so she can be 'low maintenance in real life' and revealed she is going to get her breast implants out.The mother-of-four said: 'I think part of what people don't like about me is the audacity that I have to be like I'm one of the prettiest girls in the world because it's like a cheat.'Like I don't deserve to feel that way. Like they're like, "Well, hang on. No, you're not". And it's like, Yeah I have a lot of confidence. I definitely think I'm prettier than I am. And this high maintenance stuff is just so I can be low maintenance in real life.'But I'm also going to get my implants out. I've got them out a lot in the last 20 years. Mostly for free drinks. But this time, I think I've breastfed for so long. I've been breastfeeding for six years and I just think they got so huge that it put me off big boobs maybe for life.'
