EXCLUSIVE: Shaun Sanghani’s The Syndicate has boarded sales rights to Kate Beckinsale action-thriller Drifter, which it will be shopping at the upcoming TIFF and AFM markets. Beckinsale (Underworld) stars with Dermot Mulroney (Chicago Fire), Robert Knepper (Prison Break) and rapper Sticky Fingaz in the project which is filming on location this month throughout Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. Directed by Randall Emmett, the film also features Bill Sage, Beau Bommarito, Ema Horvath, Maia Kai, and entrepreneur and media personality John Cerasani. Set in a quiet Midwestern town, Drifter “follows Wendy Ford, an interim police chief determined to prove she’s worthy of her late father’s badge. After arresting a mysterious drifter with a hidden past, Wendy finds herself trapped inside her isolated police station when impostors posing as FBI agents and a heavily armed mercenary team launch a deadly assault to free one of her prisoners.
