Kartik Aaryan undergoes knee surgery, shares first update from hospital

Actor Kartik Aaryan has shared his first social media post after undergoing knee surgery following an injury on the sets of filmmaker Kabir Khan’s upcoming sports drama. The actor, who was hurt while shooting an intense action sequence, underwent surgery at a Mumbai hospital and is now recovering at home.Kartik’s post offered a glimpse of his injured knee along with a photo from the hospital. Sharing the update on Instagram, he wrote, "Kabir sir said - Break a leg (sic)." The post came as fans continued to express concern about his health after news of the injury emerged.The first photo in Kartik’s post showed him wearing a knee brace on his injured leg. Another image carried the text, "Foot out of service (sic)." A black-and-white photograph, seemingly clicked at a Mumbai hospital, showed his silhouette as he sat on a hospital bed with IV cannulas in his left hand. The remaining photos and videos appeared to be from earlier, showing the actor running and training for the film.Reacting to the post, director Kabir Khan commented, "HaHaha Bhai Har baat itni seriously mat sunna karo (Brother, don't take everything so seriously) (sic)." Kartik suffered the injury on August 18 during the final two days of the shoot. He was immediately admitted to Fortis Raheja Hospital in Mahim as he required knee surgery. He was shooting an intense action scene when he got injured.Apart from starring in the untitled sports drama, Kartik is also making his debut as a producer with the film under his own banner. Reports had suggested that his injury could force a postponement in the shooting schedule, but Kabir Khan dismissed the speculation. He told Hindustan Times, "All this is wrong news. There’s no change in our schedule; we are on track." The project marks Kartik and Kabir Khan’s second collaboration after Chandu Champion (2024). The film is inspired by a real-life sporting story, with Kartik set to play a kickboxing coach who mentors a young girl from Kashmir. The film is reportedly inspired by the journey of Tajamul Islam, the Kashmiri kickboxing champion who gained international recognition for her achievements in the sport.Kartik will next be seen in Naagzilla, directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.
