But when the pickup agent arrived and sat by the roadside to check the item, the customer found herself fighting back tears. In a post on Instagram, Karnataka-based Sheetal Prasad shared a video of the delivery agent sitting on the road as he checked the items during the pickup. The text overlay on the video read, “I can’t explain but this moment stayed with me.”In the caption of the post, Sheetal recalled returning a piece of jewellery because she did not quite like it. A few minutes later, the pickup agent arrived to collect it. It was a routine return request, the kind that customers usually complete with just a few clicks. But when she saw the man, something about the moment moved her. “I don’t know his story. I don’t know what he’s been through,” she said, adding that perhaps her emotions had nothing to do with him at all, but the brief interaction reminded her that behind every delivery, pickup and order is a person carrying a life that customers know nothing about. For Sheetal, the moment was a reminder of how easily the people behind online shopping can disappear from view. A delivery or return may seem effortless from a customer’s side, but someone still has to make the trip, collect the package and complete the process. Watch the video here:The post prompted several users to share their own thoughts about delivery workers and the way they are treated.“I hate people who shout at them just for small reasons. They bring us something we couldn’t get ourselves. Be nice, be kind. It’s simple,” one user wrote.Another said they always give delivery riders a five-star rating. “They are doing an honest job. The least I can do is show my appreciation,” the user commented. One user pointed out that ordering or returning something takes only a few clicks for customers, while the process involves “real people, real effort, time, and money” behind the scenes.“Treat them as humans, respect them, and one ‘thank you’ would do wonders,” another user wrote. For a moment that began with returning something she did not like, Sheetal Prasad ended up thinking about the person who came to take it back - and the unseen lives carried by the people who make everyday convenience possible.- EndsPublished On: Aug 31, 2026 18:13 IST
