Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday allocated portfolios to the newly inducted ministers, 10 days after expanding his cabinet. The reshuffle also included changes in the departments held by two ministers who had taken office earlier.The allocation came a day before the Monsoon session of the state legislature. With the expansion on August 3, in which 19 ministers were inducted, the strength of the Shivakumar-led cabinet has gone up to 33, with one berth still vacant. There is no woman minister in the cabinet.BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan has been given Housing, while Lakshman Savadi will handle Co-operation. Rudrappa Manappa Lamani, who was Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly until recently, has been assigned Sugar and Textiles.The portfolios of two ministers were changed after they were unhappy with their earlier assignments. Ramalinga Reddy has been moved from Major Irrigation to Forest, Ecology and Environment, while KH Muniyappa has been shifted from Food and Civil Supplies to Social Welfare. UT Khader has been given additional charge of Minority Welfare, Haj and Wakf. Shivaraj Tangadagi has been assigned Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture, while T Raghumurthy will handle ST Welfare.Ajay Singh has been given Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology, Cheluvarayaswamy will handle Major and Medium Irrigation, Madhu Bangarappa has been assigned Primary and Secondary Education, Basavaraj Raya Reddy Higher Education, and Shivalinge Gowda Excise.
