Karimnagar constable plants marijuana at friend’s house to frame him, lands in police net

A Karimnagar Armed Reserve (AR) constable, presently on deputation with the EAGLE force, was arrested for allegedly trying to frame a friend by planting marijuana at his house. He ended up exposing himself after investigators traced the tip-off that led to the planned raid.Constable Nagaraju, who is about a year into the police department, allegedly placed 940 grams of marijuana at the house of his father’s friend following a personal dispute and later provided information through a Dial-100 call, prompting police to conduct a search.However, during the investigation, police grew suspicious of the complainant’s claims and the circumstances surrounding the seizure. The Karimnagar police examined the call details and found that the number used to alert Dial-100 was pointing towards Mr. Nagaraju.Following the findings, Karimnagar Police Commissioner ordered a search of the constable’s house. A joint team of the EAGLE Force and local police conducted a raid at around 5.30 a.m. on Friday (July 31, 2026) and recovered 200 grams more of the contraband along with the mobile phone allegedly used to make the Dial-100 call.Police also found out that Nagaraju had diverted the contraband after it was seized in an earlier case involving a woman accused of possessing marijuana.
