Kamala Harris gives surprising reply to Dems in midterm races who don’t want her support

Harris said those Democrats are doing what it takes to win. “We need to win, OK? Bottom line, we need to win,” Harris on Thursday told host Peter Alexander on MS NOW’s “State of Play” program.Harris said she has run in local, statewide and national elections, per The Hill, and added that Democratic candidates in the midterm races “know what they need to do” to win their races.“I would expect nothing less,” said Harris, who lost the 2024 White House race to Republican Donald Trump.The former veep said she “is looking forward” to campaigning for Democrats where she can be “helpful.”A number of red-state Dems have in recent weeks rejected support from Harris, who may in 2028 again seek the presidency. Iowa Democratic state Rep. Josh Turek, running for US Senate, last week told reporters that he didn’t want Harris to campaign for him. The campaign of former Rep. Mary Peltola (D-Alaska) also refused support from Harris after her PAC sent out a fundraising email for the US Senate candidate last month. And Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand, a Democrat running for governor, last month said he didn’t want Harris or former President Joe Biden to campaign for him. Other Dems, including Sen. Jon Ossoff of Georgia and Michigan US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, have welcomed Harris’ support. Democrats are looking to take control of Congress in the November midterms.
