Kamal Haasan cheers Bethlehem Kudumba Unit team after blockbuster theatre run

A Malayalam film making waves across languages has now caught the attention of one of Indian cinema’s biggest names. Actor and politician Kamal Haasan recently met the team of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, and congratulated them on the film’s blockbuster run at the box office.The meeting came as the Girish AD directorial continues its successful journey beyond Malayalam. After winning over audiences in its original language, the film has now made its way to theatres in dubbed Telugu and Tamil versions.Mythri Movie Makers, which is distributing the film in the Telugu states, shared a glimpse of the meeting on Saturday. In the video, Kamal warmly welcomed the team and spent some time chatting with them. The group, led by producer Fahadh Faasil, later posed for pictures with the veteran actor.Sharing the clip, Mythri Movie Makers wrote, “A SPECIAL MOMENT FOR TEAM #BethlehemKudumbaUnit! Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has crossed the Rs 230-crore mark worldwide, putting it firmly among the biggest Malayalam successes in recent times. Trade circles are also watching its run closely, with expectations that it could emerge as the latest industry hit from Malayalam cinema. The film marks another successful outing for Girish AD, who directed it from a screenplay written with Kiran Josey, his co-writer on Premalu. At its heart, the film is a love story with an age-gap twist.Mamitha plays Ashley, who returns home to Kerala from Ireland. Her homecoming brings her face-to-face with Justin, played by Nivin Pauly, and an old romance begins to stir again. A wedding in the neighbourhood becomes the setting for their story to unfold. Fahadh, who is also one of the film’s producers, shares a special connection with Kamal.
