K1 De Ultimate Brokers Peace Between MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego

On Tuesday in Ojusagbola, Ijebu, two men who once ran rival factions of Lagos transport politics stood together and embraced. The reconciliation between Musiliu Akinsanya, known as MC Oluomo, and Mustapha Adekunle, known as Tafa Sego, was arranged by Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, K1 De Ultimate. Their rift traces to leadership battles inside the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Lagos, where loyalists split into camps known as Oluomo Nation and Sego Nation. Tensions deepened once Oluomo became NURTW National President while Sego rose to Lagos State Chairman, leaving two powerful offices facing each other. The rivalry had a violent chapter. At a 2019 APC campaign rally in Lagos, clashes between rival groups left Oluomo with stab wounds, and police later declared Sego wanted in connection with the incident, a claim he denied. K1’s involvement was not a single gesture. According to his media aide, the musician held separate, private conversations with both men before arranging Tuesday’s meeting, working from the argument that a years-long grievance had grown larger than either man and was generating tension neither camp actually wanted.There is something in K1 playing peacemaker. In January, his own New Year All White Party became the site of a public flare-up between the two camps, after Sego loyalists reacted to K1 describing Oluomo as the union’s leader. Several NURTW chieftains witnessed Tuesday’s handshake, which K1’s team has described as a final settlement of the dispute. Reports from the meeting describe both men greeting each other calmly before sitting down to discuss their grievances directly, a detail more important than the embrace itself. Public reconciliations in Lagos union politics have collapsed before. What happens inside both camps in the coming weeks, whether loyalists accept the truce or keep old lines drawn, will decide if Tuesday’s handshake holds.
