Josh Simmons out of Chiefs practice Thursday

Published September 10, 2026 05:01 PM Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said earlier this week that “there’s a good chance” left tackle Josh Simmons will miss Monday night’s game against the Broncos and Thursday didn’t bring any better news on that front. Simmons was listed as a non-participant on the team’s first injury report of the 2026 season. Simmons has been dealing with a back injury. Rookie Kahlil Benson will start if Simmons is unable to play against Denver. Cornerback Chamarri Conner (knee) was the only other player to miss practice for the Chiefs. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee) leads a group of full participants that also includes linebacker Jack Cochrane (knee), defensive end Ashton Gillotte (foot), wide receiver Rashee Rice (knee), guard Trey Smith (hip), cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (knee), defensive end R Mason Thomas (hamstring), and wide receiver Xavier Worthy (shoulder).
