The stars parted ways after six years together, reportedly remaining amicable despite it ‘not being an easy time’. However, neither had actually confirmed the split until now, with Jordan, 34, feeling frustrated by the ‘wild’ theories and commentary. The Down with the Trumpets singer shared how ‘uncomfortable’ it’s been having his love life in the spotlight like this, as the couple had been incredibly private. Speaking on the Miss Me? Podcast with co-host Miquita Oliver, he said he was waiting until ‘things have settled’ to speak about the break-up. ‘I think I’m uncomfortable with even the concept of it being out,’ he said of the news leaking. ‘I don’t know the root of the story.’ Jordan Stephens has spoken out for the first time since his split with Jade (Picture: Matt Keeble/Dave Benett/Getty Images) A source had told The Sun: ‘Jade and Jordan had a very serious and loving relationship, but recently they have had some frank discussions about their future and have decided to separate. ‘It’s not been an easy time, but they’ve both been throwing themselves into work. Their friends adore them as a couple and are really hoping they get back together, but it’s still very raw at the moment.’ Jordan continued: ‘I won’t avoid something that’s quite obvious. I don’t want to pretend that isn’t happening, or hasn’t happened. ‘I’m conflicted because I pride myself on being open and transparent. But this is difficult because, if I’m to believe how quickly speculation can arise, I’m always a couple words or sentences away from making things worse.’ Fans had become very parasocial about their romance, which seemed to be steady, healthy, and thriving whenever they made public appearances. Jade, 33, was often seen hyping up Rizzle Kicks’ return, meanwhile Jordan had starred in one of her music videos and repeatedly praised her. They had been together for six years after meeting in lockdown (Picture: Ian West/PA Wire) Jordan, who officially took over from Lily Allen as Miss Me? co-host last month, said how ‘bizarre’ it was ‘seeing people talk about my life’ as they ‘don’t know anything’. Due to the Lost Generation singer engaging in social conversations and openly discussing his experiences, there is added pressure to address such a huge part of his life. ‘I’m silent. Jade’s silent,’ Jordan added. ‘People are making all types of wild f**king [theories], as they would always do, and desperately waiting for one of us to unfollow each other.’ ‘Bizarre alternate versions of people exist in other people’s lives. There are other people involved, obviously, and… yeah. I’m definitely going to talk and write, I think, once things have settled a bit.’ Jordan said he wasn’t trying to be ‘too cryptic’ but the situation was complex and he’s ‘still not processed’ the break-up becoming public knowledge. Thankfully, the singer felt that, largely, people had been kind even if he hadn’t meant for it to become public in that way. Jade has not addressed the break-up publicly yet (Picture: Mario Mitsis/SOPA Images/Shutterstock) Jade, who received a Mercury Prize nomination yesterday for her debut solo album, has stayed quiet so far. The Angel of My Dreams singer did say in an interview previously she had been writing new music for things she was ‘going through privately’. Speculation about a split had been bubbling as they were last seen together publicly partying away at the Brit Awards in February. The same month, the couple also appeared in an episode of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show where they were joking about weddings. However, last month, Jade notably attended close friend and Little Mix bandmate Perrie Edwards’ wedding alone. Meanwhile, neither of them marked their sixth anniversary on social media, something they had done the year before. While fans might have big feelings about the split, clearly the former couple are asking for space to process before sharing their experiences.
