Skip to main content Stewart will continue anchoring The Daily Show every Monday Matt Wilson/Comedy Central This is not a drill: Jon Stewart will continue hosting The Daily Show every Monday through December 2028. Stewart returned to The Daily Show on Mondays in early 2024 ahead of that year’s fall elections. Though his role was originally for that year’s election cycle, he extended his anchoring duties through 2026 last November. “Jon Stewart is a generational talent and The Daily Show continues to be one of the most influential franchises on television and a cornerstone of Comedy Central,” Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer of Skydance TV George Cheeks said in a statement. “We are excited to continue our partnership with Jon and his award-winning news team.” Stewart joined The Daily Show in 1999 and hosted the series until 2015. Trevor Noah took over the role before leaving in 2022, and anchoring duties were divvied up between a rotating cast of correspondents for just under a year in 2023. Trending Stories News correspondents Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic with Troy Iwata and Grace Kuhlenschmidt will continue to rotate anchoring duties Tuesdays through Thursdays. The Daily Show received two Creative Arts Emmys this year, including Lydic’s Outstanding Performer in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for The Daily Show: Desi Lydic Foxsplains. The Daily Show airs Monday through Thursday at 11:00 p.m. ET on Comedy Central (and heads to streaming on Paramount+ the following day). The news of Stewart’s extension comes weeks after Paramount finalized its controversial, multibillion-dollar acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. The merged media conglomerates will now operate under one entity as Skydance, and mean that Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and HBO Max’s Last Week Tonight With John Oliver are now run by the same corporation.
