Kumar There is something of an investigative journalist in Jon Ossoff, who served as managing director and chief executive officer of Insight: The World Investigates, a London-based investigative television production company. During his Senate campaign as Democratic candidate in Georgia and even before, he had been mounting a blistering campaign against corruption. It resonated with the voters struggling with rising food prices and unaffordable fuel.Mr. Ossoff won the November 3 election against Republican Mike Collins, becoming the only incumbent Senate Democrat to defend a seat in a State President Donald Trump carried in 2024. Ever since his win in the 2021 Senate race in Georgia, the charismatic Mr. Ossoff has been making the lists of possible candidates for the Democratic ticket in the 2028 Presidential election. But, like Barack Obama before his 2004 Senate win and scores of others before him, Mr. Ossoff, now 39, who in 2021 became the youngest U.S. Senator since 1980, has been vehemently denying any such aspiration. The media, however, has been quick in spotting in him similarities with Mr. Obama, especially the former President’s speech delivery. Published - November 08, 2026 01:15 am IST
