John Travolta’s Saturday Night Fever suit could sell for £300,000 at auction

John Travolta’s white suit from Saturday Night Fever is expected to sell for up to 400,000 US dollars (£300,000) at auction.Entertainment memorabilia auction house Propstore will present its Summer Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction in Los Angeles next month.Leading the sale is the white suit worn by Travolta when he played Tony Manero in the 1977 dance-drama film.The three-piece suit – which featured during the film’s disco competition scenes and many of its best-known promotional images – is estimated to sell for between 200,000 dollars to 400,000 dollars (£150,000-£300,000).The suit – which bears a handwritten inscription from Travolta – was later owned by film critic Gene Siskel.The four-day live sale brings together more than 1,700 lots of original film and television props, costumes, production material, autographed treasures, and other entertainment memorabilia, with a combined pre-sale estimate of 10 million dollars (£7 million).Frank the Rabbit’s Costume worn by James Duval in Donnie Darko (Propstore/PA)Other notable items in the sale include Frank the Rabbit’s (James Duval) costume from the 2001 film Donnie Darko.Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the costume from the cult classic is being offered at public auction for the first time after previously being exhibited at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.It is estimated to sell for between 100,000 dollars and 200,000 dollars (£75,000-£150,000).The screen-matched opening scene mosquito in amber fossil from Jurassic Park is also up for auction, with that item expected to reach the same price as the Donnie Darko costume.Another highlight is an original Golden Snitch from Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone.
