John Leguizamo “Could Not See” For 12 To 14 Hours A Day Playing Blind ‘The Odyssey’ Role

As John Leguizamo joined the cast of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, he found himself immersed in the role in one major way. The Golden Globe nominee recalled that he “could not see” for up to 14 hours a day on the set of the blockbuster, which is now playing in theaters, due to the contact lenses he had to wear in portraying Odysseus’ (Matt Damon) blind servant Eumaeus. “Not being able to see for 12 to 14 hours a day, like I couldn’t see my phone, I couldn’t read, I couldn’t call,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “My other eye wasn’t clear either. I could not see. I had to be taken to the bathroom, I had to be brought back. I had to be taken to eat.” Leguizamo added, “When I was alone, I just had to be inside my head because that’s all I had. Too much time with my own thoughts.
