Joe’s sinister vow dooms Emmerdale’s Caleb as revenge for Dawn’s death looms

It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube. Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) is a broken man after losing Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) in Emmerdale. Last week, Jimmy King (Nick Miles) crashed his car into the marquee where Joe and Dawn were supposed to get married. Prior to the collision, Dawn was in the tent with Joe begging for another chance at their relationship. She had plotted to run away with Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) and their children, under the impression that Joe attacked her ex at the depot. Dawn eventually learnt the truth, and raced back to Emmerdale before it was too late. Jimmy’s car smashed into the marquee, knocking him, Dawn and Joe all unconscious. In the immediate aftermath, Jimmy died as a result of his injuries. The marquee exploded with him inside but, in a pretty amazing twist, some debris protected him from the blast. In the hospital, Joe supported Dawn as she went into early labour. In yesterday’s episode of the ITV soap, the couple were relishing in the fact their little baby boy had arrived. Sadly, the happiness didn’t last for very long. After fetching Dawn some water, Joe returned to her room and discovered that something was very, very wrong. Doctors and nurses rushed in, but Joe soon learnt that his partner had died. Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) felt like a lost dog in today’s episode. His moral compass has always been driven by what Joe wants and needs – but the one thing Joe wanted and needed most, Graham couldn’t give him. As Graham and Kim Tate (Claire King) wondered how on earth they’d move forward, Joe had left the hospital and made his way into the village. After confronting Billy, Joe turned his attention to Caleb Miligan (William Ash). Caleb told Joe that his plan was never meant to end this way, which did precisely nothing to help. To be honest, Joe’s anger is completely valid. Caleb and Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) assisted in Dawn and Billy’s plot to leave Emmerdale because they were eager to see Joe with absolutely nothing. The hunger Caleb had towards beating Joe left him a controlling man. He told Billy that he couldn’t exit the village until Joe and Dawn’s wedding day, because he wanted what was supposed to be the happiest day of Joe’s life to be the absolute worst. Caleb was absolutely determined to destroy Joe (Picture: ITV) And Billy had no choice but to do as Caleb asked. He had found out that Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) was the person who attacked him a few weeks ago and knew that if he didn’t follow Caleb’s orders, Dawn could very quickly learn that he had lied about Joe. The thing about Joe is that he’s never been one for confronting his emotions in a healthy way, so it wasn’t surprising that he menacingly told Caleb that he doesn’t intend to stop until he gets what he deserves.
