Look who’s back (Picture: ITV/Metro) It’s not even December yet, but Shona and David Platt (Julia Goulding and Jack P Shepherd) are about to receive an unwelcome early Christmas present – the return of Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown). I know, I know. Jodie’s a dangerous bunny-boiler here to torment our favourite couple yet again with a nefarious scheme to steal her sister’s family that doesn’t actually make a lot of sense in the cold light of day. Cue the fan outcry of ‘Why won’t Corrie just let them be happy?’ Because happy is boring. That’s why. Jodie may be many things. Obsessive. Deranged. Moody. A walking Single White Female cliche. But she’s never dull. Corrie’s answer to Fatal Attractions has kept us guessing what her next unhinged move will be after her scheme to Cuckoo-In-The-Nest her way into her half-sister’s family blew up in her face – almost literally. After gaslighting Shona into believing she was losing her mind, Jodie finally had David all to herself and was working her seductive wiles on him… which for a moment, seemed to be working. Shona and David rumbled Jodie’s scheme. (Picture: ITV) But David was playing Jodie like a fiddle, just so Shona could walk through the door and see her twisted sister’s true colours. With her Machiavellian machinations in tatters, Jodie resorted to her back up plan – a gun. Not just any gun. The gun she stole from Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) after a dodgy deal with a local gangster, stashed in her creepy box of stolen trinkets. Jodie, get your gun. What followed was a life-or-death struggle where Shona wrestled the gun from Jodie and accidentally shot her sister in the stomach. In the panic, David lied to the emergency services and claimed that they had heard a gunshot, only to run inside and find Jodie lying there. He even disposed of the smoking gun by chucking it into the canal. David covered up Jodie’s shooting to protect Shona. (Picture: ITV) When Jodie woke up from surgery, it didn’t take her long to figure out the Platts’ cover story. Surprisingly, she actually backed up David and Shona’s fake version of events when DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) came-a-calling. This wasn’t kindness, of course. It was leverage, so she could blackmail David and Shona into letting bygones be bygones and allowing her to move back into Number 8. David was having none of it, declaring their relationship was done. But Shona couldn’t help feeling a pang of sympathy for her unhinged sibling and later returned to the hospital to offer her a roof over her head. However, it seemed that David’s rejection had hit home hard with Jodie, as a nurse informed Shona that she had mysteriously discharged herself against medical advice and done a runner. Despite everything, Shona still cares for Jodie. (Picture: ITV) Since then, there’s been little clue to Jodie’s whereabouts, aside from Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) being reunited with the valuable book Jodie stole from him after it was anonymously posted through his letter box. However, now it’s David and Shona’s turn to get a sinister hint regarding Jodie’s fate, in upcoming episodes of Coronation Street. What has Jodie got in store for Shona and David this time? (Picture: ITV) At No.8, Jodie’s phone rings out on the sideboard. Shona answers it and her face drops. Who’s calling and what do they want? Whatever the answer, it’s nothing good, as David and Shona discuss the threatening phone call and can’t help wondering if it was orchestrated by Jodie herself. Is Jodie to blame… or is someone holding her hostage? Has she truly turned over a new leaf… or is she up to her old tricks?
