João Fonseca Faces Crucial Cincinnati Open in US Open Seeding Race

João Fonseca will begin the North American hard-court season in position to earn a seed at the 2026 US Open, with the Brazilian confirmed for a Cincinnati Open field featuring nearly every leading player on the ATP Tour. Fonseca is ranked No. 27, placing him inside the 32-player seeding line for the final Grand Slam of the year. Fonseca Reached Wimbledon Third Round Fonseca enters the hard-court swing after reaching the third round at Wimbledon for the second consecutive year. Playing as the No. 24 seed, he defeated Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut 7-6(4), 6-4, 6-3 in the first round before beating Jesper de Jong 6-1, 7-5, 6-4. His run ended with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 loss to Roman Safiullin. Although the result fell short of a second-week appearance, Fonseca again showed that his game can produce results away from clay. He has now reached the third round at Wimbledon twice despite having limited experience on grass at tour level.
