Late-night hosts poked fun at Donald Trump’s attempts to lie about crowd size once again as his administration continues to show signs of corruption.Jimmy KimmelOn Jimmy Kimmel Live! the host reminded viewers that it was the “magical time of the year” when Trump thinks he deserves the Nobel peace prize and “cries like a newborn baby” when he doesn’t get it.Kimmel said the president will once again be “mortified” to not receive it “seven months after starting a war for no reason”.This week also saw Trump award the National Medal of Science to Elon Musk, which Kimmel said was deserved as “no one has meddled more with our nation’s scientists” than him.Kimmel added: “It’s so nice when two terrible people can put their differences aside for the greater bad.”Trump has continued to defend his comments that Iran could “take out” San Diego and Los Angeles – yet Kimmel said if he wanted to explain himself then “try mixing the cities up a little bit”.Given that Iran doesn’t possess weaponry that could make it all the way to the west coast, “he might as well be protecting us from the chupacabra”.This week has also seen Trump continuing to panic over James Talarico, the Democratic Texas Senate candidate, claiming that if Texans vote for him then everything will have a “bad smell” but Kimmel said that’s “mostly from your diapers”.Talarico has been virtually “begging” his Republican opponent, Ken Paxton, to debate him but the Republican has been “running from him like Ted Cruz to Cancún during an ice storm”.Trump has also claimed that he never lies and always keeps his promises despite recently lying about giving taxpayer money back which had been spent on political ads.“There’s just so much lying and stealing it gives you a headache,” Kimmel said.He then moved on to Kimberly Guilfoyle who was once “a Fox News something” before being dumped by Trump’s son and then being sent to Greece to became the US ambassador, which Kimmel said was “a funny thing to do”.This week showed that she asked a Trump donor, who owns a pizza chain called Snappy Tomato, to pay her personal Amex bill.“We finally made America great,” he said, before saying she needs “$30k a month just in eyeliner alone”.Seth MeyersOn Late Night, Seth Meyers played footage of Trump claiming he had filled up an arena for a new rally, yet the camera showed empty seats. There’s no way to use this as a measure of success compared to previous presidents as “most presidents stop doing fucking rallies” as they are “too busy being president”.Meyers said people are likely sick of hearing the “same material for 10 years straight”.He added that “Republicans in close races don’t want him around” so he has been “soothing himself with lies about his crowds in deep red states”.Meyers also played bizarre footage of Trump talking about meeting strapping male “studs” who were fans of his, repeatedly referring to their looks and physique.“If any of us behaved like Donald Trump we would never hear the end of it from Donald Trump,” he said.Meyers also spoke about Trump’s strange comments suggesting Iran could destroy Los Angeles and San Diego, and said that “throwing in San Diego makes it weirdly specific”.Meyers added that “even Republicans had to come out and denounce” what Trump had said.
