With other hosts on holiday, Jimmy Kimmel checked in on Donald Trump’s antics, online and off, with just three weeks to go until the US midterm elections.Jimmy Kimmel“We’re three weeks away from the midterm elections, and the president is laser-focused,” joked Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday evening. In reality, the president “spent part of his afternoon yesterday posting videos of humans getting attacked by animals”, including a real clip of a man getting mauled to death by a tiger at a South Yorkshire zoo last week, after he scaled a fence and entered the enclosure.“I’m sure the guy’s family was thrilled to see Trump having fun with it,” Kimmel continued. “But he needed it to set up this delightful AI video – I’m sorry, SI video – of himself wrestling and ultimately taming a tiger of his own.” In the AI-generated clip, Trump chases, tackles and eventually hugs a tiger. “The most unrealistic part of that video is him running,” Kimmel quipped.“I guess maybe he’s bored?” he added. “How could you be president and be bored, I have no idea.”Still, as congressional races heat up across the country, Trump resumed his preferred mode: on the campaign trail. The president held two rallies on Wednesday, in Arizona and Montana. “You know, it used to be when an 80-year-old traveled between Montana and Arizona, it was to beat their tuberculosis,” Kimmel joked.“But if anyone was worried about his brain, don’t,” he added. “He’s good. He’s giving himself cognitive tests and he’s passing them with flying colors.”Though no one was asking for it, Trump reassured attenders at his Arizona rally that he was continually acing a cognitive test in which the subject repeats a list of five words back to the doctor. He provided an example: “hat, hair, logo, white, black,” which he then repeated before claiming he “aced” the test.“Sir, you aced this test you just made up,” Kimmel deadpanned. “This is the test you would give your grandfather after he fell off his stepladder.”Later in his speech, Trump again boasted about his cognitive test abilities. “They say very few people can do it, and almost none can do them in order like that,” he said. “But I can, you know why? Because I’m a frickin’ genius, that’s why.”“And if you believe that, then you will also believe I’m sending you $5,000 apiece,” Kimmel added. “Who wants to see a genius dance to the Village People, huh?”
