This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.Ahead of its September 9 premiere, Peacock has released the trailer for The Paper season 2. The comedy stars Domhnall Gleeson as the editor-in-chief of a newspaper trying to survive in the digital age. All 10 episodes of season 1 were released in September 2025, with The Paper earning a second-season renewal before the series had even premiered. Less than two months ago, Peacock announced that The Paper would return on September 9 with another binge-release. Now, with less than a month until The Paper season 2 premieres, Peacock has shared the official trailer, which teases what fans can expect from the team at the Toledo Truth Teller. After major wins at the Ohio Journalism Awards, the newspaper is in jeopardy once again, this time due to Ned Sampson's investigation into a private club. Meanwhile, the editor-in-chief and Mare Pritti try to find a way forward after their kiss. Check out the trailer below: The Paper season 2 trailer begins with Ned praising his team for their wins at the Ohio Journalism Awards, followed by some inappropriate office behavior when managing editor Esmeralda Grand spreads her legs for a Brazilian wax. Right on cue, Enervate CEO Marv Putnam opens the office door and sees what's about to unfold. Esmeralda yells at him, "Marv, one moment!" Elsewhere in the Toledo Truth Teller offices, Ned proudly says he's now in a relationship with Mare, as clips are shown of the two lovebirds getting physically closer to each other while on the job, including making out in the stairwell. Nicole Lee, who not only works at the paper but is also Mare's best friend, claims she knows exactly what's going on: "Mare has a new best friend." Ned goes to Human Resources to reveal his office romance, and the woman in charge of the department replies, "HR's got your back! Let me know if and when you guys have sex." She seems to have an odd fascination with the relationship and wants to know inappropriate information about Ned and Mare's intimacy, which worries Ned. It's not all Brazilian waxes and romances at the Toledo Truth Teller, though. The journalists and editors need to prove that the awards they won were not a fluke. They head to the morgue to investigate a fire that took place in a kitchen. The coroner lifts the sheet so the team can see the body, but right at that moment, Travis Bienlien sneezes all over. The trailer also teases that Toledo will be put under an official tornado watch, and Oscar Martinez falls asleep on the job after taking his "sleeping blend." There's even a brief shot of Jon Lovitz, who will be guest starring in The Paper season 2, along with Andy Richter, Lisa Gilroy, Matt Braunger, Toks Olagundoye and Phil Hendrie. Aside from those guest stars and Gleeson, the cast of The Paper also includes Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Tim Key, Ramona Young, Eric Rahill, Duane Shepard Sr., Alex Edelman and Oscar Nuñez. Greg Daniels, who created the U.S. version of The Office, co-created the spinoff The Paper with Michael Koman. The two also serve as executive producers with Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas. The Paper earned positive reviews from critics when it debuted in 2025, 12 years after The Office went off the air, and earned a Critics' Choice Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Nuñez). The Paper season 2 will be released Wednesday, September 9 on Peacock.
