Jerry Jones: I don't see making an in-season coaching change

Published November 1, 2026 05:18 PM The Cowboys went from being up 14-0 at home on Sunday to losing 33-30 to the Cardinals in overtime, but they only made it that far because Arizona missed an extra point after tying the game with six seconds left to play. The loss dropped Dallas to 3-5 on the season and 1-2 on their home field. The other loss was to the Bucs and was their performance in that contest was just as dispiriting as the one they put forth against Arizona, which led to a question for owner Jerry Jones after the game about whether he would consider a coaching change. Jones said he’s not thinking about giving Brian Schottenheimer a pink slip. “I’m not proud of it. but I made a change with Wade Phillips there in the middle of the season. I don’t see that here at all,” Jones said, via Jon Machota of TheAthletic.com. All of the blame for the Cowboys’ struggles can’t land on one pair of shoulders, but the head coach bears extra responsibility and giving away games like they did on Sunday is a good way to wind up in need of a new job.
