What wound up happening was it didn’t get cleaned out all the way.”McCarthy told Menounos that the infection spread throughout her jawbone.“I had three of these toxic pools hiding under my wisdom teeth, so we did root cavitations and it just kept getting infected,” she said. “I’m like, ‘What is happening?’ I’m on surgery, like, number eight.”McCarthy said she was eventually diagnosed with mycotoxin poisoning or toxic mold poisoning. But she went through more than the oral issues before she got to the diagnosis. “On the eyelid right here, it looked like the nastiest whitehead, pus-filled eraser top growing,” she told Menounos. McCarthy said she had surgery to remove the growth but it returned four weeks later. “Now I’m into July, oozing infection coming through my eye, my mouth is being infected, we put the implants in, the implants were rejected, and I’m like, ‘What is going on!?’” she said. McCarthy said the test for mold came after months of antibiotics. She told Menounos she is currently on a “heavy duty mold protocol” that she started in January and will run for a year.
