Jeffries says not ‘a single member’ has talked to him about impeachment

Some Democrats have been outspoken in their support of impeaching members of the Cabinet, such as War Secretary Pete Hegseth. Before the election, Jeffries said Democrats “haven’t ruled anything in, and we haven’t ruled anything out,” when asked about impeachment. Al Green (D-TX) and Shri Thanedar (D-MI).While Democrats are mum on a Trump impeachment, Hegseth could be in their crosshairs. The lower chamber is set to vote next week on a slew of impeachment articles introduced by outgoing Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY). The articles hone in on the war in Iran, the Trump administration’s arrest of former Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, strikes on alleged drug boats, and the war in Yemen. Massie also accused the Pentagon of ignoring laws to minimize civilian casualties and suppressing free speech.Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) would need a simple majority to block the legislation from coming up for a vote this Congress before control flips, but with concerns about attendance after Democrats’ sweeping victory, any plans for the lame duck session seem to be up in the air. Some Democrats openly campaigned about bringing impeachment articles against Hegseth in the new Congress.“Is Pete Hegseth still around?” Jeffries said at the press conference when asked about his past comments on the secretary.HOUSE DEMOCRATS DECLARE VICTORY AND INTRODUCE ‘SPEAKER JEFFRIES’ Democrats, however, have expressed they intend to open a slew of investigations into the Trump administration over the next two years, with plans to probe Trump’s family’s business dealings, immigration enforcement tactics, the Epstein files, and more.Now-House oversight committee ranking member Robert Garcia (D-CA) made this clear last night when he advised the president to “LAWYER UP,” as Rep. Emily Randall (D-WA) posted “we’re going to be passing out subpoenas like candy.”
