The Marvel Cinematic Universe will never be the same. From the moment Disney acquired Fox, fans started pondering how the X-Men would be folded into the MCU. That first led to one of Marvel's best movies, Deadpool & Wolverine. The R-rated Marvel movie served as the first major project starring mutants in the franchise. That said, all eyes were on the X-Men, given how Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is too old to be part of the new version of the team. This is where Spider-Man: Brand New Day's cast comes in. For months, Stranger Things' Sadie Sink was rumored to play Jean Grey. Despite denying the rumors in many interviews, Spider-Man: Brand New Day confirmed that they were true when the film was released in theaters. Sink is the MCU's Jean Grey, and fans got to watch how her powers developed as her tragic backstory was finally brought to the big screen. While Jean was a villain for most of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, she was on a different path at the end of the Spider-Man movie. But what I do best isn’t very nice.” You’re the fierce loner who acts first and philosophises later — but beneath that adamantium-plated exterior beats a heart that cares far more than you’d ever admit. You’ve been burned enough times to distrust the world, so you keep people at arm’s length, yet you’d throw yourself into any fight to protect the ones who slip past your defences. You don’t need a cause or a manifesto — you just need someone worth fighting for. Like Logan, your greatest strength isn’t your claws or your healing factor; it’s the stubborn refusal to let the people you love face danger alone.Fierce Protective Resilient Untamed 🧠 Professor X (Charles Xavier) “Just because someone stumbles and loses their path, doesn’t mean they’re lost forever.” You’re the visionary who sees the best in everyone — even when the world gives you every reason not to. Your greatest power isn’t telepathy; it’s an unshakeable belief that understanding and compassion can bridge any divide. You lead not through force but through hope, building bridges where others build walls. Some call you naive, but you know that real strength lies in extending a hand to your enemy. Like Charles Xavier, you carry the weight of a dream that most consider impossible, and you refuse to let it die.Visionary Empathetic Diplomatic Hopeful 🧲 Magneto (Erik Lehnsherr) “Peace was never an option.” You’re the survivor who learned the hardest lesson life has to offer: the world will not protect you, so you must protect yourself. Your conviction is unbreakable and your patience is terrifying — you’ll wait years to set the right plan in motion. You don’t hate humanity; you simply refuse to let your people be victims ever again. Every action you take, no matter how ruthless, is driven by a profound love for those who share your struggle. Like Erik Lehnsherr, you are both revolutionary and tragic — a leader forged in pain who will bend the world before it bends you.Resolute Strategic Ruthless Unyielding ↻ PLAY AGAIN That path will lead to the MCU's X-Men movie, which is now confirmed to arrive in theaters on May 5, 2028. That said, fans will not have to wait that long for Jean Grey to play a major role in a Marvel release. While this is a new take on the character, unconnected to the MCU and not played by Sink, an exciting Jean Grey will rise soon. A New Jean Grey Will Rise In September Insomniac Games has become well known to Marvel fans due to their hit Spider-Man games that spotlight Peter Parker and Miles Morales on PlayStation. Now, the next installment in this Marvel shared universe, and the first not to be Spider-Man-related, will be Marvel's Wolverine, a game that comes out exactly a month from now, on September 15. Wolverine is played by Liam McIntyre (Spartacus) in the video game, and while he has been billed as the sole playable character of the highly anticipated release, Logan is far from the only mutant who will show up. In the trailers that have been released for Marvel's Wolverine so far, Insomniac confirmed that X-Men franchise characters like Mystique, Sabretooth, Mister Sinister, Omega Red, and many more. That said, the biggest character announced for the game besides Wolverine himself is Jean Grey. The X-Men member will be played by Krizia Bajos, with the story being set before the X-Men team has been put together in this universe. In that way, Marvel's Wolverine will connect with how Sink's Jean Grey appeared in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Jean Grey and Wolverine will team up in the game. Sadie Sink's Jean Grey Has Already Set Two MCU Return Projects Credit: Dave Starbuck/Future Image/Cover Images While the Jean Grey who will appear in September is not the one played by Sink, fans will not have to wait too long to see the MCU's Jean return. Before Sink's role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day was confirmed, Deadline reported that the Stranger Things actress would reprise her role in 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars. Now that we know she is the MCU's Jean Grey, the Marvel hero could help Tom Holland's Spider-Man and others against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, including a nice passing of the baton moment between the Fox X-Men cast and Sink's Jean Grey. Additionally, at D23, where ScreenRant was in attendance, Marvel Studios announced the cast of the MCU's X-Men movie. Sink's Jean Grey will be joined by Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier, and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister. The MCU X-Men reboot will be released on May 5, 2028. As such, Sink will appear as Jean Grey in three major MCU movies in consecutive years, making her the face of Marvel's mutants in live-action.
