A graduate of McMaster University, Ryan began his career in public relations before attending Vancouver Film School. There, he built lasting industry connections and optioned a feature film screenplay. Jason Statham has become known for specific types of action movies. His action films share many elements in common, such as a protagonist with a dark past who is forced to take down dozens of enemies to protect someone or right an injustice in the world. Recent titles like The Beekeeper (2024), A Working Man (2025), and Shelter (2026) all followed this model, and Statham is set to continue this with The Beekeeper 2 next year. Statham's latest is no exception, but it does put a fun twist on the formula by putting the star into a Die Hard-like scenario. Following its theatrical release in August, Mutiny continues Statham's streak as action hero royalty, at least in terms of its VOD performance. The R-rated action film, which became available to rent and purchase on digital platforms on September 8, has now crossed 32 days in Amazon's most popular movies list, currently ranking in 19th place. Statham's Mutiny Has Claimed A New Victory On Streaming Directed by Jean François Richet, Mutiny features Statham as Cole Reed, a man who must work to clear his own name after his boss is murdered in front of him. This mission sees Cole stow away on a container ship to uncover a dark international conspiracy, which is where the Die Hard comparisons come from. The Mutiny cast also includes Annabelle Wallis, Chaneil Kular, Ramon Tikaram, Simon Kluth, and Jason Wong. Mutiny reviews may not have been glowing from critics and the film may have only grossed $30 million on a $40 million budget, but, as is typical of Statham movies, the film has been a success on digital. The movie is a more popular rental and purchase choice than titles like Motor City (2026), In the Grey (2026), and the original Halloween (1978). Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) tops the chart, with the rest of the top five including The End of Oak Street (2026), Insidious: Out of the Further (2026), Disclosure Day (2026), and Obsession (2026). What's Next For Statham? Image via Lionsgate The Beekeeper 2 remains one of Statham's most anticipated upcoming projects, and the film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 15 next year. Also coming up for Statham is 2028's Fast Forever, the conclusion to the Fast & Furious saga, which sees him playing antihero Deckard Shaw. Jason Statham Stole My Bike, an action comedy, is set to release in August 2027, while Statham's reunion with Guy Ritchie, Viva La Madness, is expected to arrive in January 2028. Statham is also attached to star in a David Ayer action film called John Doe. It remains to be seen how Mutiny's position on Amazon's chart fluctuates in the days and weeks ahead, but the film, despite being a commercial failure and catching flack for its overly serious tone and confusing plot, only further cements Statham's position as one of modern Hollywood's most reliable and entertaining action stars. With more action flicks on the way, Statham doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. Release Date August 21, 2026 Runtime 95 Minutes Director Jean-François Richet Writers J.P. Davis, Lindsay Michel Producers Jason Statham, Marc Butan
