Jason Statham's action thriller from one of the biggest movie franchises of all time has found new life on streaming years later, and it happens before that saga is set to come to an end. Statham is one of the most popular action stars Hollywood has ever seen. The actor has played his fair share of gruff lone wolf characters, both on the side of good and bad, across a wide array of franchise movies and standalone films. When it comes to being part of a universe, Statham has appeared in franchises like The Expendables, The Transporter, The Meg, and more. Recently, the first trailer for The Beekeeper 2 was released, with that action thriller set to arrive in theaters in 2027. The upcoming movie will give Statham another franchise, continuing the story that began in 2024's The Beekeeper. Statham has also put down roots in an action franchise that is all about cars, the Fast & Furious movies. First, he played Deckard Shaw as a full-on villain. Then, the character descended into more anti-hero territory. Now, Statham is seeing 2017's The Fate of the Furious find new life on streaming before the action franchise is scheduled to return one last time. Statham's Fate Of The Furious Is Racing Back Up Netflix's Charts At the time of writing, The Fate of the Furious is the 7th most popular movie on Netflix in the United States, as data from FlixPatrol shows. The Fate of the Furious has become an instant streaming sensation nationwide. While the 8th Fast & Furious movie was released in theaters on April 14, 2017, The Fate of the Furious is one of the new movies and TV shows on Netflix's slate of arrivals in October, with the action thriller having debuted on the streamer on October 16. It was already trending on Netflix a day later, debuting at 4th in the US. Since then, The Fate of the Furious has moved around Netflix's nationwide chart. While it is currently a bit lower, at 7th, the action movie that features Statham, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Kurt Russell, and many more still ranks higher than Doing Life, The Breadwinner, and the animated hit Ice Age on Netflix in the US. The Fate of the Furious racked up a massive total of $1.236 billion at the global box office. The action thriller movie also broke the record for the Fast & Furious franchise's biggest global opening weekend with a gargantuan $532 million debut back in 2017. Will Statham Return To The Action Franchise? Fast Forever is meant to be the final movie in the mainline Fast & Furious franchise. For now, the film's full cast has yet to be announced, though it would make sense if Statham were to return for the project. After all, Statham did return as Shaw in Fast X, the franchise's latest release, which came out in 2023. The problem is that the movie itself has dealt with some behind-the-scenes issues. Still, at least for now, Fast Forever remains scheduled for March 17, 2028, and Statham could go from streaming success with The Fate of the Furious right into filming the franchise finale.
