Jaruma Threatened To Accuse Me Of Rape, Expose Our Sexual Encounter Unless I Paid N100m,’ Seyi Tinubu's Bodyguard Tells Police

Dare, who said he had worked with Seyi Tinubu since 2022, made the allegations in a statement recorded by the Nigeria Police Force's National Cybercrime Centre on October 8, 2026 and exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters. A bodyguard to Seyi Tinubu, Olawale Dare, has alleged that Nigerian sex therapist and ‘Kayanmata’ seller Hauwa Saidu, popularly known as Jaruma, threatened to expose their sexual encounter and accuse him of rape unless he paid her ₦100 million. Kayanmata is a traditional category of products associated with women's intimacy, sexuality and relationships, particularly in northern Nigeria Dare, who said he had worked with Seyi Tinubu since 2022, made the allegations in a statement recorded by the Nigeria Police Force's National Cybercrime Centre on October 8, 2026 and exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters. In the statement, Dare said he met Jaruma at a lounge in Abuja in November or December 2025 through a mutual friend identified as Faizal. He alleged that they went to his house after meeting and had sex. According to him, Jaruma disclosed her identity as the ‘Kayanmata’ seller the following morning and asked him to invest in her business. Dare told the police that Jaruma requested between ₦100 million and ₦200 million, allegedly promising to return as much as ₦700 million. He said he declined the proposal because he did not have the money. According to his statement, Jaruma subsequently told him that she had a spiritual problem and asked him to refer her to an herbalist or an Islamic cleric. Dare said he could not provide such a contact but suggested a Celestial Church that offered counselling. He added that Jaruma later told him her ATM card was not working and requested cash, prompting him to give her between ₦30,000 and ₦40,000. He alleged that their relationship deteriorated after the encounter. In his statement, Dare told the police that Jaruma threatened to inform his employer (Seyi Tinubu) about their sexual encounter and demanded ₦100 million. “That she is going to inform my boss about what we had together and I must pay her 100 million naira,” he wrote in his statement to the police. Dare further alleged that Jaruma threatened to accuse him of rape and claimed she had evidence from 12 women who would testify against him. He told the police that he did not understand why she wanted to inform his employer about their encounter. Dare also said he did not initially report the alleged threats to the police because his friends advised him to ignore the matter. He stated that he believed reporting Jaruma could give her publicity, particularly because she had not yet published the videos he said she threatened to release. Dare denied conspiring with anyone to cyberstalk Rayan Ghassan Kamal, an Abuja businesswoman and Seyi Tinubu’s Personal Assistant, whose complaint against Jaruma led to a separate police investigation. In several posts, Jaruma reportedly alleged that Kamal had been in a relationship with Seyi Tinubu for three years and that he had opened a business for her, among other claims. In his statement, Dare said he knew Kamal through his work with Seyi Tinubu and described their relationship as that of colleagues. He denied giving Jaruma Kamal's personal information or conspiring with her against the businesswoman. “No, I did not conspire with anyone to cyberstalk her,” he stated. He added that he had blocked Jaruma after their first encounter and was willing to provide evidence of what he described as her cyberstalking of him. “I have the prove that Ms Jaruma was cyber-stalking me all those time and I am ready to provide it to the police when requested,” he said. Jaruma was subsequently charged with two counts of cyberstalking over alleged TikTok publications targeting Kamal and her employer, Seyi Tinubu, according to a charge sheet dated October 23, 2026. The charge sheet does not list Dare as a defendant in the case. The allegations in Dare's statement concerning the ₦100 million demand, the threatened rape accusation and their sexual encounter are separate from the two cyberstalking counts detailed in the charge sheet. SaharaReporters earlier reported that Jaruma had been in police custody since Monday over social media posts related to a dispute involving Seyi Tinubu and Kamal, whom she identified as his girlfriend. Documents obtained from the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre in Abuja indicate that Jaruma was granted administrative bail under conditions that reportedly proved difficult to meet. The bail conditions, dated October 23, 2026, required two sureties: a federal civil servant on Grade Level 15 or above and a business owner with landed property in Abuja. Sources told SaharaReporters that the conditions were deliberately made difficult to prevent her release before the weekend. Dare, the bodyguard attached to Seyi Tinubu, who was linked to information Jaruma was accused of sharing, appeared at the Cybercrime Centre on Monday but was not detained, according to the information supplied.
