He finally returned to action in May as he went on to make three appearances to help Tottenham avoid relegation. The England international was also limited during pre-season due to a minor issue. And it is hoped he will return before next month’s extended international break. It is a relief for Tottenham as injuries continue to trouble the club after their 17th-placed finish last season. Both Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are currently sidelined with long-term ACL injuries. Dejan Kulusevski and Mohammed Kudus are also out of action with knee and quad injuries, respectively. While new captain Micky van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr also did not feature against Brentford. But Spurs have been boosted by the £85million deal to sign Savinho from Manchester City – with Oumar Marmoush set to follow next.
