Jaipur after Jantar Mantar? Dipke gives 48-hour deadline after clash over school

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder and convenor Abhijeet Dipke warned of an escalation on Friday, saying he would sit on a dharna in Jaipur if steps weren't taken within 48 hours. Earlier in the day, CJP activists, including the outfit's co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka, were confronted by locals when they tried to visit a school in Jaipur district."I will go to Jaipur if the school repair work doesn't begin and the BJP goons are not arrested within the next 48 hours," Dipke said in a video message. He invited others to join in if the demands weren't met.The CJP launched the 'School Thik Karo' (fix the schools) campaign on August 15 and its members have been visiting schools to highlight the lact of amenities.Earlier on Friday, CJP co-convenor Ranka, along with dozens of CJP activists, tried to visit a primary school in Rampura-Kanwarpura village of Jaipur district. They were attacked and forced to return by locals. "These are not the villagers from there, but goons summoned by the BJP," Ranka wrote on X after the confrontation.Dipke too alleged in the video message that "Ashu [Ashutosh Ranka] and his team were attacked and beaten up by BJP goons". He said that children were being taught in a buffalo shed and Ranka was going to "expose" that. "So, I want to say that if work to repair that school is not started within 48 hours, and those goons are not arrested, I will personally come to Jaipur and sit in front of the school until work to repair it begins," said Dipke. It seems that the CJP might have zeroed in on Jaipur, Rajasthan's capital, as the next site of their big protest."I also request all of you. If they do not listen to us, all of you come to Jaipur. We will sit in Jaipur just as we sat at Jantar Mantar, and we will not back down," Dipke said. The CJP convenor also demanded that a circular that had been issued mandating that no one should take photographs or videos of damaged schools be withdrawn.Ranka shared Dipke's video message on X and said, "If the work doesn't start in the next 48 hours, everyone who doesn't want our children to study in cow shelters should come to Jaipur. The CJP, which began as a satire online, started its protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 6 and ended it only after the Union Education Minister resigned over the NEET-UG paper leak case on July 25. The CJP has now taken up the issue of condition of schools, and it seems Jaipur could become the next city of an escalated protest.- EndsPublished By: Avinash KateelPublished On: Aug 21, 2026 18:01 IST
