Jailer 2: Vidya Balan makes a smoking entry as Kantha, character glimpse revealed

Jailer 2 makers are slowly revealing the faces that will join Rajinikanth in the much-awaited sequel, and the latest addition has brought Vidya Balan into the mix. After introducing SJ Suryah as Bodhi and Suraj Venjaramoodu as Dileep, the makers have now unveiled Vidya’s first-look character teaser. She plays Kantha, a yet-to-be-explored character who gets a striking introduction in the new video.Vidya is seen in a blue saree and black blouse, cigarette in hand, as she walks down a staircase and enters a room. There’s little else to give away, but the brief glimpse makes one thing clear: Kantha isn’t being introduced as a quiet presence. Vidya carries a certain authority in the scene, while Anirudh Ravichander’s music adds to the mood.The makers haven’t revealed what Kantha’s role is in the story yet. However, reports have claimed that Vidya will play Mithun Chakraborty’s eldest daughter. Mithun is said to be the main antagonist in Jailer 2 and will share the screen with Rajinikanth. The sequel brings back Rajinikanth as Muthuvel Pandian after the first Jailer became one of the biggest Tamil hits of 2023.Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer followed Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer whose peaceful life was disrupted after his son went missing. The film went on to earn Rs 348.55 crore nett in India and Rs 604.50 crore gross worldwide, according to Sacnilk.About Jailer 2 Jailer 2 brings back several members of the original cast, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik. The sequel also has an impressive new line-up, with SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna joining the cast.The film is also expected to have several cameo appearances.
