(Credit: Sun TV)New Delhi,Oct 21, 2026 18:19 ISTAction director Chethan Ramshi D’Souza shut down speculation that a body double was used for Malayalam actor Mohanlal in Jailer 2. Responding to fan outrage over trimmed scenes in the Rajinikanth-starrer, Mohanlal's stand-in, Jobi Kodakara, also clarified his limited involvement. The team confirmed that Mohanlal personally performed his climax sequences in the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial. The controversy gained traction after an Instagram user questioned Chethan under a joint post with cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan regarding Mohanlal's screentime and a specific climax sequence featuring Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff. Responding directly to an inquiry on whether a body double was used during a car scene, Chethan wrote, "It’s him (sic)."Similarly, Jobi Kodakara addressed the rumours on the Jango Space YouTube channel, confirming that his role as a stand-in was strictly limited to minor inserts due to production constraints."Only one or two shots featuring me have been used in the film. To be honest, only parts of my hands and legs are visible. These appear in the airport scene during the climax. There is a shot of someone changing gears while driving, and another showing someone pressing the accelerator," Jobi said.Clarifying that his face was never featured in the theatrical cut, Jobi added, "That’s all. They are among the finest actors in the world, so perhaps I was brought in due to schedule or time constraints. My face has not been shown anywhere. The face that people claim is shown in the climax isn’t mine. I am certain about that."Speculation surrounding AI or body doubles had intensified after Jobi had shared pictures wearing Mohanlal's costume from the set, an action he acknowledged as a mistake given the resulting online circulation.Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 follows Rajinikanth as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian as he seeks assistance from allies to protect his family against an idol-smuggling network.
