Jack Ryan & Lioness Star Is Officially A Taylor Sheridan Favorite

Taylor Sheridan has taken one of the stars of Prime Video's Jack Ryan and his own spy thriller Lioness and added them to his roster of favorite recurring actors. Taylor Sheridan is one of the most prolific screenwriters in Hollywood. Not only does the list of Sheridan's best shows include nearly a dozen different projects, Sheridan also has nine more upcoming shows and three different movies in development. Sheridan is best known for casting A-list celebrities in his shows and movies, like Sylvester Stallone in Tulsa King and Kevin Costner in Yellowstone, but his projects also have a lot of familiar faces. With such a huge body of work, it was nearly inevitable that Sheridan's shows would have some overlap in their casts. Sheridan, however, is still a bit of an outlier: about two dozen actors have appeared in multiple Taylor Sheridan shows. In fact, reusing actors in two or more shows is a staple of Sheridan's writing. Aside from Lawmen: Bass Reeves, nearly all of Sheridan's shows have at least one actor who appears in another series. Sheridan himself has even played characters in three of his own shows — Yellowstone, 1883, and Lioness — and in one of his own movies, Hell or High Water. Now, Sheridan has found yet another actor to add to his growing list of favorites across multiple projects. Michael Kelly Is The Latest Actor To Feature In Multiple Taylor Sheridan Shows Michael Kelly, who played Mike November in Jack Ryan and has been playing Byron Westfield in Lioness since 2023, is now the latest actor to appear in multiple Taylor Sheridan shows. Recently, Kelly was added to the cast of Landman season 3, where he'll be playing William Crockett, the strategic head of a massive global oil company and, presumably, a rival to Billy Bob Thornton's Tommy Norris. At the end of Landman season 2, Tommy was fired from M-Tex and formed his own company, CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle, which he decided to run with his son, Cooper, and father, T.L. While the company still has Cooper's small land leases to drill, it's also a fledgling company that's just getting started. Michael Kelly's William Crockett will presumably be playing an antagonist who's out to dominate CTT and take Cooper's land from the Norris family. Aside from making Kelly one of Taylor Sheridan's many multi-show collaborators, his casting in Landman is also great news for the show. Crockett sounds like a great new antagonist, and having one central villain for Tommy and his entire family to fight against could start to make Landman feel more like Yellowstone. Tommy and the Norris family now have something to come together on and defend from outside threats like Crockett, just like the Duttons had to come together to defend their ranch. Several other actors have already appeared in two different Sheridan shows, including a sizable chunk of the cast of Landman. Billy Bob Thornton and Sam Elliott both appeared in 1883, Michelle Randolph also starred in 1923, and Robyn Lively had a role in Lioness. Jeremy Renner, for instance, starred in both Wind River and Mayor of Kingstown, Kelsey Asbille was also in Wind River and Yellowstone, and Gil Birmingham was in Wind River, Hell or High Water, and Yellowstone. Additionally, while Jon Bernthal hasn't made his TV debut for Sheridan yet, he was in Sicario, Wind River, and Those Who Wish Me Dead. As for the most frequent Taylor Sheridan collaborator, however, there's a very clear answer. Some actors came close; Dawn Olivieri, for example, was in four Sheridan shows, as were Dylan Kenin and Sheridan himself. However, James Jordan is indisputably the most prolific actor in Sheridan's arsenal. Jordan appeared in seven of Sheridan's movies and shows: Wind River, Yellowstone, Those Who Wish Me Dead, Mayor of Kingstown, 1883, Lioness, and, most recently, Landman. While Michael Kelly is off to a good start in his collaborations with Taylor Sheridan, he has a very long way to go to catch up with James Jordan. Taylor Sheridan
