Jack Gleeson, James Nesbitt and More Join Edward Bluemel in BritBox’s Young Poirot Series ‘Hercule’

Logo text Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones) and James Nesbitt (The Hobbit) have joined the cast of the BBC and BritBox‘s Agatha Christie adaptation, Hercule. British star Edward Bluemel had already been confirmed to play the young version of Christie’s beloved detective in a six-part series. Joining him alongside Gleeson and Nesbitt will be Henry Ashton (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) James D’Arcy (Oppenheimer), Calvin Demba (Supacell), Phil Dunning (Smoggie Queens), Tamsin Greig (Riot Women), Guy Remmers (The Buccaneers), Rebecca Rittenhouse (His & Hers) and Mawaan Rizwan (Juice). The series, set to start filming in Liverpool imminently, is an “intimate study of Hercule Poirot the man, and an epic portrait of Britain between the wars.” The series will center around three of Christie’s early stories, while also introducing Hercule Poirot to future friends, allies and one particular nemesis. Penned by Code of Silence writer Benji Walters, the show’s first two episodes are being directed by Jonny Campbell with Chanya Button and Alrick Riley directing the second two and final two episodes, respectively. Charlie Palmer serves as series producer. Hercule is produced by Mammoth Screen (part of ITV Studios) and Agatha Christie Limited for BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the U.K., and BritBox in North America in 2027. The series is adapted by Benji Walters. The executive producers are Benji Walters and Jonny Campbell, James Prichard for Agatha Christie Limited, Rebecca Durbin and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen, Nick Lambon for the BBC and Robert Schildhouse, Jon Farrar and Stephen Nye for BritBox.
