I’ve hypnotised A-listers and billionaires – here’s the strangest & X-rated problems they’ve asked me to fix

A HYPNOTIST to the stars has revealed the X-rated request most clients make. Marisa Peer has spent 40 years inside the minds of the world’s most powerful people. Marisa – whose new book Your Mind, Your Rules, is out now – has revealed how she has hypnotised actors to speak in authentic American accents for roles. Sign up for the Fabulous newsletter Thank you! When a billionaire’s child came home from a playdate terrified he was about to be kidnapped, it was Marisa who was called in to help. She has also helped a man retrieve a combination to a safe he could no longer remember, and worked with police to help them to crack cases. But the common request she gets is a bit saucier. Marisa, 67, said: “Probably the most unusual thing that billionaires and A-listers ask me to hypnotise them for is to be super orgasmic. “They are often so stressed, always on planes and travelling while working long hours, and they find it very hard to relax. “I found both men and women who say they can’t orgasm properly, or they can’t orgasm at all, and it affects their stress levels. Most read in Fabulous “The fix comes down to the same principle that runs through all my work – that your psychology talks to your biology. “When you tell the brain that you’re super orgasmic, or a man tells himself that he does have blood flow and he can maintain an erection and have an orgasm, and this is repeated, the body accepts the instructions the mind is giving to the body.” But Marisa, who has interviewd celebs including Davina McCall and Scott Thmas on her podcast Your Mind, Your Rules, says the problem behind this mentality is almost never physical. The subconscious mind, she explains, is far more powerful than the conscious one. “I have worked with many clients who couldn’t orgasm despite trying very hard,” she said. “The way they overcame this was to stop trying and instead to remind themselves that their past didn’t have to impact their present – and it could no longer rob them of having their body respond to lovemaking the way it was designed to.” When they are in conflict, Marisa explains, the subconscious always wins – which is why trying to orgasm, like trying to sleep or relax, often backfires. She also reveals the sexual performance requests she’s had go further than most would expect. She said: “I had a very well-known woman ask me to hypnotise them to be really good in bed, to be really good at sexual acts. “I’ve had men ask me to hypnotise them to last a lot longer in bed, and to be able to really, really please their partner. “I have some really, really strange sexual requests, but I probably wouldn’t say what they are!” ‘Celebrities are vulnerable’ Away from the bedroom, the requests from her most famous clients reveal what fame and wealth feels like from the inside. Actors are among the most psychologically vulnerable people Marisa treats, and she’s hypnotised them to be able to speak with a convincing accent, to become convincing in roles they could not previously access. One of the most striking cases involved a very famous client who had to play a paedophile on screen. “He was a father and found it so distressing he couldn’t get into the role,” she says. “I hypnotised him to be able to play the part and detach from it – because when you’re rehearsing and playing a part over and over again, it does affect you. “I’ve had women say, ‘I’m playing a psychotic person on stage and I’m beginning to feel a bit psychotic’. Or ‘I’m beginning to feel depressed because I’m playing a manic depressive’.” The imposter syndrome that runs through celebrity life is something Marisa knows well. A few years ago, she admits she was called in to work with an A-list actor who was due to play the role of a global icon – he was concerned he couldn’t live up to the part. “We were sitting in his gorgeous house and while he was relaying his doubts, saying, ‘Who am I to play this character?’ I was thinking, ‘Who am I to help someone as iconic as you?’ We both had imposter syndrome but we both cartied on rather than letting it stop us.” The billionaire cases are stranger still, according to Marisa, including a man who forgot the combination to his safe, as well as a woman who hid valuable jewellery in her house and could not remember where. In hypnosis, Marisa takes the mind back in time to retrieve what the conscious brain can no longer access – something she has used in her work with police officers. But there have been some clients she has turned down. She revealed: “I’ve had male billionaires who want me to hypnotise their wives into believing the man has been faithful. I have, of course, refused because that’s completely wrong. “And there are other sexual requests – some of them very, very strange, but not illegal, indeed – that I’m definitely not going to share.” Your Mind, Your Rules by Marisa Peer is published by FlightStory in partnership with Penguin, priced £20.
