But could a horse seemingly exposed be the one on Friday to make it third time lucky at the track? I’m talking about EBT’S GUARD, who last year chased home Rhoscolyn in the Coral Golden Mile. He was also second in a similar race at the track in 2024. Those placed efforts came off ratings of 96 and 87, and now he must try to land the Coral Golden Mile with a mark of 104. It’s not going to be easy! That all said, it’s not impossible. There’s no wiggle room off 104, but he’s 3lb better off with Indalo and I suspect he’ll be hard to kick out the frame under Lewis Edmunds. Very hard to get away from TALK OF NEW YORK who has a much higher handicap rating than most of these with a mark of 116 and who has the best form in the race. The St James’s Palace Stakes third can still show better form going forward as he pulled hard early at Ascot and he’s a very promising horse in the making. William Buick rides for Charlie Appleby and the form from Ascot was done no harm in the Sussex Stakes on Wednesday. I’m also pleased Saber Strike is up in trip – but surprised by the blinkers. The big class sprint of the week comes in the Group 2 King George Stakes over 5f. TIME FOR SANDALS has totally gone at the game this season but she gets Kieran Shoemark back on board and he went well with her at Haydock last season so maybe he will make a difference. The filly has no chance on any recent form, but last year she was a decent third in this behind JM Jungle and she was unlucky in-running that day. Harry Eustace is the handler hoping for a revival. We end with a conditions race for older horses over 1m1f. GALEN chased home Haatem in the 2025 Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot and is 5lb better off at the weights here. He also has the better recent form, finishing fourth behind Map of Stars in the same race this term. Basically he has every chance of being in the mix under Dylan Browne McMonagle for Joseph O’Brien. Draw nine could have been a bit better… but is no excuse. Good luck!
