I've folded the Galaxy Z Fold 8 for a month; the crease issue is overblown

One of Samsung's big winners this year is its new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, with the passport-shaped foldable winning over users and tech reporters who've used it. However, a month after its release, users are noticing a growing issue, which is more noticeable in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra: crease problems are being reported across the web. Is it time to discount the Galaxy Z Fold 8 as a foldable worth avoiding? Well, not quite. I've used both phones for a month, and I'm convinced that the issues aren't as bad as you've heard. Growing reports of Galaxy Z Fold 8 problems Largely focused on the Ultra Creases, which mark where the display bends, have been a fixture of foldable phones that many companies have tried to iron out. Brands sell their devices on the matter. Fans thought Samsung had achieved this in the Z Fold 8, with one of its key selling points being the removal of this obvious mark. However, display creases can become more prominent over time as the screen repeatedly folds and unfolds. At first, the Z Fold 8 seemed crease-free, but users are reporting it is becoming more obvious. Many are comparing it negatively to other contemporary folding rivals, especially the Oppo Find N6. The gist of these reports is that the Galaxy Z Fold 8's crease becomes glaringly obvious faster than expected, making a major selling point of the phone moot. But I'm not convinced. Over a month of folding and unfolding And what do I have to show for it? I've been using both the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra since they launched over a month ago. The former is my daily driver, but I use both a lot. I've folded and unfolded the devices plenty of times over several weeks. Apart from when I ditched the main screen for a weekend, I open them countless times every day. As a tech journalist, I open and close it more often than the average user. I make my living by pushing gadgets like these to the limits. You'd think, then, that my screen crease would be blatant. However, that's not the case. I can watch a TV show or game without noticing it's there. That's not to say it's invisible. When I look at my display from an extreme angle, I see a darker line down the middle. That's especially true when the display is turned off. But I can't feel the Z Fold 8's crease, unless I'm pressing down harder on the display than anyone realistically would. It's easy to forget it's there at all. So where are all these creases coming from? Con-Fold-mation bias I can't comment on what the Samsung Galaxy foldable would be like over several years, which is likely how long an owner would keep it for. It's not been out that long. But based on my experience, I don't think new buyers need to worry about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 having an obvious crease. I understand the fears, but they don't reflect on every phone. That's not to discount the reports online of creases you can easily see and feel. I can see how extreme use, an accident, or mistreatment could cause this kind of dip. But most buyers won't find this same problem. I've used my Z Fold 8 loads, and there's no crease to speak of. Other manufacturers suffer from this issue more Whether or not the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a crease problem — and to be clear, I don't think it does — it's hard to deny that other companies suffer from the same problem. Notwithstanding the Oppo Find N6, which I haven't tested, other folding phones on the market have just as many, if not more, obvious creases when you use them. When I went to MWC to play with various foldable phones, a super-creased Honor Magic V6 made me hunt down alternatives.
