One Jason Statham hit is no longer an all-time streaming sensation. While already an action genre star well before, the past decade has truly seen Statham re-stake his claim on leading man territory in the field after being part of such ensembles as the Fast and Furious and Expendables franchises. Beginning with his long-awaited reunion with Guy Ritchie on Wrath of Man, the star found success with the likes of the David Ayer-helmed The Beekeeper, for which he has a sequel releasing in 2027, and this year's Shelter. There was one movie, though, that just saw its epic streaming run come to a close. Immediately reuniting him with Ayer, and co-penned by Sylvester Stallone, A Working Man saw Statham lead the adaptation of Chuck Dixon's novel Levon's Trade as Levon Cade, a former Royal Marine Commando working as a construction foreman in Chicago who utilizes his skills to track down his employer's daughter after she's kidnapped by Russian traffickers. Also starring Jason Flemyng, Michael Peña and David Harbour, the film overcame its mixed reviews to be a box office hit, while also crushing it on streaming, holding a Top 10 spot for almost a year straight, until now. Why Statham's A Working Man Is No Longer A Top 10 Streaming Hit © Amazon MGM Studios / Courtesy Everett Collection Released by Amazon MGM Studios in the U.S., A Working Man followed up its successful $89 million box office run with a streaming premiere on June 27, 2025. Upon its debut, the action-thriller, which sparked Taken comparisons in its plot of a former military vet using their skills to save a kidnapped young woman from human trafficking, similarly became a hit for the platform, fluctuating between the No. 1 and 2 positions for three months straight, per FlixPatrol. While the months that followed saw further fluctuations and dips, including a brief departure entirely from MGM+'s Top 10 in December, A Working Man had maintained a Top 10 spot for almost a year straight since. As such, with the gritty action-thriller no longer in the chart after such a lengthy run, it officially marks the end of its era on the platform for the time being. Even still, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that the Statham-led thriller has lost its Top 10 spot. Not only has it been a year since it made its MGM+ premiere, with viewers generally looking to tune into newer releases, but the other titles on the chart are a mix of freshly-debuted ones, and newly emerging hits, including the J.K. Simmons and Titus Welliver-starring The Westies, the Aaron Eckhart-fronted Deep Water, Ryan Gosling's record-setting Project Hail Mary and Tim Curry's classic Clue, among others. Statham's Streaming Dominance Is Still Going Strong Elsewhere Though the end of such a strong streaming run may spell doom for some, it doesn't necessarily mean so for Statham, or for A Working Man. The fact that the film held on to a Top 10 spot for as long as it did means it's likely to resurface at some point, particularly when the star has a new movie about to release. Plus, with there being another 11 novels in Dixon's Levon Cade series beyond what A Working Man is based on, there's still very much a chance Statham and Ayer reunite to develop a sequel at some point. Moreover, Jason Statham is still maintaining his streaming dominance on a variety of other platforms beyond A Working Man's MGM+ home. His first 2026 title, Shelter, has been on multiple global streamer's Top 10 charts, as well as Starz's in the U.S., for the past three months, where Crank: High Voltage also recently resurfaced to take the No. 1 spot for two weeks straight. As such, where one film may have dipped, plenty of others are keeping him in charge.
