The Diplomat has just met the end of a successful era on Netflix. The streaming service has had plenty of success with political thrillers in the past, given that the first major Netflix Original series was the award-winning House of Cards. Since then, the streamer's slate of projects has continued to find success with thrillers of varied subgenres. One of the most popular Netflix thriller series in recent years is The Diplomat, which follows The Americans star Keri Russell in another intense series filled with plot twists. Russell gives life to Kate Wyler, the new United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom. The Diplomat debuted on Netflix on April 20, 2023, with the political thriller series now four seasons into its successful run on the streaming service. The show is one of the exceptions on streaming that has managed to keep to an annual release schedule for new seasons. The Diplomat season 4 arrived on Netflix on October 15, with the hit series instantly shooting up the streamer's charts nationwide and worldwide after all the eight episodes in its latest season were dropped at once. However, three weeks later, The Diplomat has now suffered a major fall on the streaming service. The Diplomat Has Ended Its Top 10 Netflix Era At the time of writing, The Diplomat is nowhere to be seen on Netflix's Top 10 TV Shows chart in the United States, having completely dropped off the coveted list, according to FlixPatrol data. The political thriller series' last day on the chart was November 2, when it ranked 10th on the list. Right now, the most-watched TV show on the Netflix chart nationwide is the WWE's Raw. The list also features other popular series, like the documentary The One About Matthew Perry, the Kristen Bell and Adam Brody rom-com Nobody Wants This, the reality show Love Is Blind, and many more. Choose the movie with the higher Rotten Tomatoes score. While The Diplomat is no longer trending on Netflix in the US, the thriller is still a hit in the Top 10 of multiple other countries. Currently, Russell's The Diplomat is trending on Netflix in 16 countries, per FlixPatrol. Its highest position is 6th in Australia. The political thriller is also a hit in countries like Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The Diplomat has put on a solid showing for nearly a month. According to official Netflix data, the series ranked 4th globally for the week of October 26 to November 1, making it three weeks in the worldwide Top 10. The Political Thriller's Drop Comes Quicker Than Expected Image via Netflix Given how it has not even been a month since The Diplomat season 4 dropped on Netflix, and the show is a popular one for the streamer, its fall from the US chart comes as a surprise. It happens right after Netflix officially announced that The Diplomat season 5 is happening, so the streamer remains confident in the show's performance. That said, based on official Netflix data, season 4's fall from the US chart after two weeks trending ranks lower than season 3's three weeks in the US, season 2's four weeks, and is also less than The Diplomat season 1's five weeks.
