Over a decade after it ended, The Legend of Korra is entering a new era thanks to the new Avatar: The Last Airbender show Avatar: Seven Havens. Though it has been 12 years since the ending of The Legend of Korra, Korra herself is back in vogue. Since the show follows the next Avatars after Korra, twins named Pavi and Nisha, Korra has become all the more important once again. However, since Seven Havens takes place about 200 years after The Legend of Korra, and since the Avatar Cycle is based on death and rebirth, Korra is long dead in the sequel show. Still, Korra had some hand in the Cataclysm that now plagues the world of The Last Airbender. Additionally, as the previous Avatar, she's poised to be an important mentor to Nisha and Pavi. Korra's relationship to Nisha and Pavi isn't the only reason that The Legend of Korra is entering a new era, however. The show is getting more important, and some fans are realizing that The Legend of Korra aged well, but there's more to it than that. For the first time since 2012, Korra's voice actor has been recast. The new voice of Korra in Seven Havens marks a major shift in The Last Airbender as a franchise. Korra's New Voice Actor Ushers In A New Era For Avatar In The Legend of Korra, Korra was voiced by Janet Varney for all four seasons. Now, Korra is played by Cia Court in Seven Havens. Korra briefly appears in a flashback in the middle of Seven Havens season 1, when Pavi and Nisha were interacting with the Anomaly. Though she doesn't speak, Korra does grunt a bit while bending metal during the event that led to the Cataclysm. Though she didn't get to say much, Cia Court is officially the first voice actor to play Korra since Janet Varney last played her in 2014. That recasting is fairly significant. It almost surely means Korra will have more voice lines in Seven Havens season 2 and beyond. If she were to remain silent, the Avatar Legends team likely wouldn't have bothered to recast her at all. Following the ending of Seven Havens season 1, where Pavi and Nisha learned they need to unblock their chakras, it seems like they'll eventually be able to enter the Avatar State and speak with Korra. Cia Court should also bring a new dynamic to Korra as a character. Court is playing an older and more mature Korra than Varney did. Her voice will likely reflect Korra's age during the Cataclysm and, possibly, be a bit less stubborn and hotheaded. In short, once Court gets a chance to actually deliver some dialog as Korra, she'll be playing a very different version of the character. The era of Korra being a young and stubborn young woman is over, and the era of her being a more self-assured and wise woman is here. What Happened To Korra After Her Own Avatar Show Though there's a new, more mature version of Korra in the franchise, we still don't know much about what happened to Korra after the ending of The Legend of Korra. All that Seven Havens has revealed about Korra's later life so far has been the aforementioned flashback to a single moment in the midst of the Cataclysm, a lot of opinionated conjecture about how she's the scourge of humanity, and a brief film clip from the old world. Based on the little information Seven Havens has provided, there are a few noteworthy reveals. Korra and Asami were still (presumably romantically) together well into middle age, for example, long enough for Korra to have a streak of gray in her hair and wrinkles around her eyes. That film clip also revealed that Korra was addressing a crowd of people, which implies she had a fairly good relationship with Republic City. Unfortunately, that's about all we can say for certain. It's still not clear exactly how Korra ties into the Cataclysm or even what it is. She may have caused it in some way through her duties to the Spirit World, or she may have failed to stop it thanks to intervention from scared benders. Until Avatar: Seven Havens can deliver more episodes, Korra's fate remains shrouded in mystery.
