Israeli opposition leader Avigdor Lieberman on Sunday called for the Palestinian Authority (PA) to be dismantled and for an Israeli-Jordanian confederation to control parts of the West Bank currently under the PA's control, according to Haaretz. Lieberman, chairman of the right-wing Yisrael Beiteinu party, presented a plan titled "Israel's Endgame in the West Bank and Gaza". Under it, Israel would apply sovereignty over Area C, which makes up about 60 percent of the occupied West Bank and remains under full Israeli control. The plan proposes an Israeli-Jordanian confederation in Areas A and B, where the PA exercises limited control. Jordan would run civilian affairs and policing there, while Israel would keep "full security responsibility" across the entire territory, according to Lieberman's plan. He also called for control of the Gaza Strip to be handed to an "external party", which he did not specify. Under international law, the entire territory covering Areas A, B and C is Palestinian land and all Israeli settlements on them are illegal. The vast majority of Israel’s 700,000 settlers live illegally in Area C.
