Israeli forces held Palestinian activist Issa Amro incommunicado for hours: Israeli rights lawyer

Palestinian activist Issa Amro was detained by Israeli forces on Friday and held for seven hours for being "too close to a settlement", a human rights lawyer has reported. Israeli attorney Michael Sfard wrote in a post on X that Amro, the founder of Hebron's Youth Against Settlements group, was released overnight after being held "seven hours incommunicado at a military base". Sfard added that the activist had been "detained blindfolded and handcuffed behind his back and badly treated" because he "got too close to a settlement". Amro previously reported that he had been repeatedly harassed by Israeli settlers and the military following his appearance on Louis Theroux's BBC documentary "The Settlers". He was attacked, and his Hebron house raided and property damaged. ***** UPDATE: Issa was released after being detained blindfolded and handcuffed behind his back and badly treated for 7 hours in a military base. The charge: got too close to a settlement. Shit. But he is out and ok. **** — Michael Sfard מיכאל ספרד (@sfardm) October 2, 2026
