Isolated rains expected in Metro Manila, other areas on July 20

GRAPHICS BY INQUIRER MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and other parts of the country are expected to experience generally fair weather, with chances of isolated rain showers and thunderstorms on Monday due to the southwest monsoon, or habagat, according to the state weather bureau. In its morning update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the habagat is forecast to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the following areas: Metro Manila Ilocos Region Cordillera Administrative Region Mimaropa (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) Western Visayas Negros Island Region Zamboanga Peninsula BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) Batanes Babuyan Islands Zambales Bataan Cavite Batangas Lanao del Norte READ: Agriculture officials fear ‘super’ El Niño Article continues after this advertisement “This southwest monsoon will continue to affect our country for the next two to three days,” Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said in Filipino. Aurelio also said the cloud cluster being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility still has a chance of developing into a low-pressure area in the coming days. The cloud cluster currently has no effect on any part of the country.
